Description

Comtes de Champagne 2012 is Taittinger's flagship cuvée!

The year 2012 was characterized by a rainy spring and a gloomy start to summer. But from mid-August onwards, summer settled in Champagne, bringing very dry weather and warm temperatures right up to the end of the harvest. Yields for the 2012 harvest were relatively modest, helping to produce concentrated wines.

This cuvée is made from Chardonnay from the 5 Grands Crus villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. These are unique terroirs, where the outcropping chalk allows the grapes to draw minerality, power and finesse.

For the production of this great champagne, only the "cuvée" is selected, an absolute guarantee of finesse. Most of the vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks, but 5% of the wines are aged for 4 months in new oak barrels, one-third of which are renewed each year to enhance the intrinsic qualities of the final blend with its toasty notes.

The bottles are matured in the Maison's cellars for 10 years, allowing this vintage to open up with extraordinary energy and ageing potential.

This champagne has a limpid, brilliant color, with subtle golden highlights.

The nose is voluptuous, integrating fruity fragrances of Williams pears and apricots, with pastry and brioche notes of lemon meringue, nougat, almond and candied citrus. With aeration, the bouquet reveals its power, while preserving a refreshing minerality.

The palate is full-bodied, generous and supported by suave acidity. The wine is precise, structured, lively and of rare aromatic purity.

Perfect for an exceptional celebration, this Cuvée Comtes de Champagne 2012 from Maison Taittinger is an ideal match for a starter based on seafood, fine shellfish or fish.
