The Les Folies de la Marquetterie cuvée is the first terroir champagne crafted by the House of Taittinger. It is an exceptional champagne, rich and complex.
It is a blend of 45% Chardonnay and 55% Pinot Noir, exclusively from the grapes of the Folies vineyard overlooking the Château de la Marquetterie, the Champagne cradle of the Taittinger family.
The Château de la Marquetterie, located near Epernay, was before the French Revolution the residence of the writer Jacques Cazotte and the setting for countryside festivals where philosophers and men of letters of the Age of Enlightenment gathered.
General de Castelnau made it his headquarters during the Battle of Champagne in 1915. And even before him, Brother Oudart, a Benedictine monk, discovered certain secrets of champagne fermentation there at the end of the 17th century.
In the Folies parcels, green harvesting is carried out to achieve optimal sugar richness and maturity.
Only the juices from the Cuvée (first press) are retained. Each parcel is vinified in small volumes and some batches in oak barrels. Finally, the Les Folies de la Marquetterie cuvée spends 5 years in the House's cellars to perfect its unique harmony.
