Nicolas Maillart took over the family estate in 2003. Trained as an oenologist, he has directed the range towards mature, fruity, and complex champagnes, notably thanks to the arrival of oak barrels at the estate. The vineyard, based solely on the Montagne de Reims in the villages of Ecueil, Bouzy, and Villers-Allerand, is dominated by Pinot Noir and complemented by Chardonnay, Meunier, and Petit Meslier. This allows Nicolas Maillart to create intense, expressive cuvées with a characteristic touch of vinousness. The Domaine Nicolas Maillart has been committed for many years to an environmental approach and is certified as High Environmental Value and Sustainable Viticulture.
The Nicolas Maillart range begins with the Cuvée Platine Premier Cru, a very elegant champagne with fine bubbles and fruity aromas; as well as the Cuvée Rosé Grand Cru, a rosé de saignée with intense red fruit notes and a great aromatic amplitude. It continues with parcel cuvées, some of which stand out particularly. Notably, the Cuvée Jolivettes Grand Cru 2019 comes from a 60-are plot where vines aged around thirty years are planted. A cuvée that has seduced the champagne specialist Richard Juhlin since its release in 2015.
