Taittinger's 2006 vintage is a fine, well-balanced, mineral cuvée.
2006 was a hot year. A rather dry autumn was followed by a cold, snowy winter. Spring was mild, allowing the vines to flower beautifully, followed by a scorching summer punctuated by numerous storms. The abundance of grapes allowed a thorough qualitative selection.
Millésime 2006 Taittinger is a blend of 50% Chardonnay from Grands Crus terroirs in the Côte des Blancs and 50% Pinot Noir from Grands Crus in the Montagne de Reims.
This cuvée has a golden yellow color, with lively bubbles.
On the nose, this cuvée has intense aromatic notes, with a floral touch that evolves after a few seconds into more ripe, fruity and greedy notes.
On the palate, the attack is fresh, with a greediness reminiscent of stewed fruit flavors. This is a smooth, supple champagne offering remarkable balance.
Taittinger's 2006 vintage offers remarkable ageing potential.
