      Description

The Collection 244 cuvée signed by Louis Roederer is a champagne of great depth and delightful gourmandise. Based on the 2019 harvest, this cuvée reveals aromas of ripe fruit and citrus. Presented in a magnum and a box, it embodies the elegance and excellence of the house.

The making of the Collection 244 Louis Roederer champagne

The Collection 244 cuvée is based on the blending of grapes from the three great Champagne terroirs: la Rivière, la Montagne, and la Côte. It is composed of 41% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, and 26% Meunier. This unique blend allows for the creation of a cuvée that is both dense and fresh.

The 2019 vintage was marked by extreme climatic conditions, with episodes of intense heat. The harvests took place from September 10 to 21, offering grapes of remarkable maturity. The blend of Collection 244 is composed of 54% of wines from the 2019 harvest, including 5% vinified in wood, 36% of perpetual reserve (2012-2018), and 10% of reserve wines aged in wood. This wood aging adds an aromatic dimension and additional depth.

With a dosage of 7 g/l, the Collection 244 champagne maintains a beautiful balance between richness and freshness. The partial malolactic fermentation (35%) ensures preserved acidity, providing elegance and beautiful tension to the wine.

      Tasting of the cuvée

      • Color

The Collection 244 stands out with a luminous and elegant golden yellow color. Its effervescence is dense and regular, with bubbles of exceptional finesse.

      • Nose

On the nose, this cuvée reveals an intense bouquet of ripe fruits such as vine peach and pear, accompanied by notes of citrus like lemon and blood orange. Iodized and smoky touches, resulting from wood aging, add freshness and additional complexity.

      • Mouth

In the mouth, the attack is gourmand and juicy, evoking crisp ripe fruits. The texture is soft and enveloping, quickly lightened by a delicate effervescence. The finish is long and salivating, marked by chalky and slightly smoky notes.

      The advantages of the magnum

The magnum, with its 1.5-liter capacity, is the ideal format for special occasions and tastings among friends. Thanks to its larger size, the champagne ages more slowly, which favors better preservation of its freshness and a more subtle evolution of its aromas. The small amount of air present in the bottle allows for optimal conservation. The magnum also offers an impressive visual presence on the table, adding a touch of prestige and conviviality. Perfect for serving around 15 glasses, this format is ideal for moments of sharing.
