The Maison Leclerc Briant was created in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc. It moved to Epernay in 1955 and became the Maison Leclerc-Briant under the leadership of Bertrand Leclerc, the great-great-grandson of the founder, and his wife Jacqueline Briant. Today, it cultivates 14 hectares certified organic and biodynamic, primarily located in Grand Cru terroirs of Mailly and Le Mesnil, and in Premier Cru terroirs of Hautvillers, Cumières, Bisseuil, Trépail, Rilly la Montagne, and Villers-Allerand. The Maison practices gentle, natural, and nurturing winemaking. The wines benefit from low dosage, or even the complete absence of dosage, allowing them to express themselves freely.
The range of Leclerc Briant cuvées is divided into three categories. The "Classiques" naturally blend and reveal their personality without constraint, such as the Brut Réserve cuvée, a blend of Pinot Meunier which brings fruitiness and roundness, Pinot Noir which provides structure and vinous character, and Chardonnay which adds a touch of freshness and honeyed notes; and the Cuvée Divine Extra Brut, a solera that combines the harvests of 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. An impressive aromatic palette. The "Sélections Parcellaires" translate the quintessence of their terroir and vintage. As for the "Spécialités," they stand out for their original universes filled with emotion, such as the Abyss cuvée, one of the most original champagnes, submerged for 1 year in the marine depths off the east coast of the Île d'Ouessant.
