The Blanc de Blancs 2018 from Champagne Leclerc Briant is a refined and vibrant cuvée that exalts the energy and purity of the Chardonnay grape. With great freshness and exceptional delicacy, it is a perfect champagne for the aperitif or the beginning of a meal.
The Blanc de Blancs 2018 is a champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay, the flagship grape of the Côte des Blancs. The 2018 vintage in Champagne was marked by exceptional climatic conditions, making this year a remarkable vintage for Chardonnays. After a rainy winter and a warm end of spring, the summer of 2018 was distinguished by a prolonged period of heat and drought, allowing the grapes to ripen under ideal conditions. The Chardonnays harvested in 2018 display a great aromatic concentration, with notes of ripe fruit and preserved mineral freshness. Thanks to cool nights at the end of the ripening cycle, the grapes retained a beautiful acidity, essential for the balance and finesse of these wines. This vintage thus gave birth to characterful Chardonnays, both generous and delicate, fully expressing the chalky terroir of Champagne.
The Chardonnay used for this cuvée comes from the terroirs of Trépail, Villers-Marmery, Billy le Grand, Bisseuil, and Vertus. The Blanc de Blancs 2018 Leclerc Briant was vinified and aged in vats for 85% and in barrels for the remaining 15%. It was bottled in June 2019 before spending 4 years in the cellars located in Epernay. Disgorgement took place from June 2023. The dosage of this cuvée is 1.9 g/l, making it an Extra Brut champagne, where the sugar does not interfere with the pure expression of the terroir and the grape. This low dosage reveals all the finesse and minerality of the Chardonnay.
The Blanc de Blancs 2018 Leclerc Briant presents a very pale color, adorned with green reflections, accompanied by a subtle foam and lively effervescence.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals delicate aromas of lemon, white flowers, and lemon oil, offering remarkable freshness.
On the palate, the Blanc de Blancs 2018 is characterized by great delicacy and subtle saltiness. The finish is marked by an elegant evanescence, leaving a sensation of purity and lightness.
The price of the Blanc de Blancs 2018 Leclerc Briant bottle is 104,95 €. This price reflects the origin of the grapes, but also its long aging.
