Le Terroir by Adrien Renoir, presented here in magnum, is a champagne that combines the chalky freshness of the Verzy terroir with the delicacy of ageing in wood. A perfect aperitif.
Cuvée Le Terroir is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay from the classified Grand Cru terroir of Verzy, on the Montagne de Reims. This terroir is renowned for its chalky soil, which gives the grapes plenty of freshness and minerality. The base wines are vinified in barrels, and the reserve wines, which account for 20% of the blend, are matured in tuns.
The blend is based on a majority of wines from the 2020 vintage, one of the finest harvests of recent years. This wine from the 2020 harvest is complemented by reserve wines that perpetuate the estate's identity.
These wines are aged on lees. After 3 years in the house cellars, the wines are disgorged and only lightly dosed (1.6g/L).
Terroir Adrien Renoir has a golden, sparkling color with fine bubbles.
On the nose, it reveals initial notes of citrus and yellow fruit, then evolves towards richer, more powerful notes.
On the palate, Terroir is a superb wine, with a taut, frank attack, then evolving towards a rounder, fruitier mid-palate.
A magnificent champagne to enjoy as an aperitif, but also a fine match for the table.
