Description

Le Terroir by Adrien Renoir is a champagne that combines the chalky freshness of the Verzy terroir with the delicacy of ageing partly in wood. This cuvée is ideal for aperitifs.

Cuvée Le Terroir is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay from the classified Grand Cru terroir of Verzy, on the Montagne de Reims. This terroir is renowned for its chalky soil, which gives the grapes plenty of freshness and minerality. The base wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks (80%) and oak barrels (20%), while the reserve wines, which represent 20% of the blend, are matured in foudre.

The blend is based on a majority of wines from the 2018 harvest, one of the finest harvests in recent years. This wine from the 2018 harvest is complemented by reserve wines that perpetuate the estate's identity.

These wines are aged on lees. After 3 years in the house cellars, the wines are disgorged and measured out as Extra Brut.

Tasting

By Patrick Borras

Robe

Extra Brut Grand Cru Adrien Renoir is pale yellow in color, with hints of gold. It's a champagne of fine, light bubbles.

Nose

The nose is fresh and airy, floral, punctuated by richer notes of honey and dried fruit. On the second nose, a vinous touch emerges.

Palate

On the palate, this champagne is very pleasant, fresh and light but with a lovely roundness. On the mid-palate, the greedy notes of the nose come through again, with a mineralized red thread that evokes citrus fruit. This is a very pleasant, well-balanced champagne, with its freshness and greediness.

Service

I recommend you enjoy it as an aperitif, at a temperature of between 8°C and 9°C.
