The cuvee La Grande Dame was born of a blend of the 8 historic Grand Crus of this champagne house created in homage to Madame Clicquot.
Dominated by Pinot Noir which confers excellent structure, it is balanced by the freshness and femininity offered by a touch of Chardonnay.
La Grande Dame 1998 from Veuve Clicquot presents a lovely pale gold robe with flashes of jade and incredibly fine bubbles.
The first nose offers all the nobility of Chardonnay, in a very floral and mineral register, then movement in the glass produces fragrances of crystalized fruits (citrus, apricot, quince) and almond, which are reiterated on the palate.
Other, rarer notes such as tobacco, herbs and a peaty maltiness reveal themselves after a few moments airing.
This unique aromatic palette is perfectly balanced in the mouth by a rich silkiness, with the addition of brioche, white flowers and candied citrus fruits.
The ensemble is of great finesse and beautiful complexity – in the image of Madame Clicquot.
A unique champagne for special occasions.
