The Cramant 20 cuvée from Valentin Leflaive Champagne is a remarkable Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru. Originating from the prestigious terroir of Cramant, it seduces with its minerality, freshness, and aromatic richness. This champagne is ideal for accompanying refined meals or enhancing a beautiful aperitif.
The Cramant 20 cuvée is crafted from Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from the Grand Cru of Cramant, located in the Côte des Blancs. The vines, averaging 55 years old, thrive on argilo-calcareous soils rich in chalk, at an altitude of 210 meters. Oriented east and southeast, these vines benefit from optimal sun exposure, promoting homogeneous and complete ripening of the berries.
The harvest is done manually, followed by fractional pressing to retain only the best juices. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and oak barrels, preserving the purity of the aromas while adding subtle complexity. After bottling in March 2021, the cuvée aged for 31 months on the lees, developing a fine effervescence and elegant structure. With a dosage of 2g/L, Cramant 20 reflects the precision and know-how of Valentin Leflaive.
Although Cramant 20 is not vintage-dated, it relies solely on the 2020 harvest. This year offered exceptional climatic conditions, with a mix of sun and moderate rain, allowing for perfect ripeness of the grapes. In Cramant, the Chardonnays revealed vibrant freshness and marked minerality. They express all the richness of this exceptional terroir.
A pale golden color, illuminated by green reflections, with a fine and persistent effervescence.
A subtle and expressive nose, marked by aromas of yellow fruits such as peach and pear, associated with notes of grilled almonds and almonds.
The palate is ample and buttery, typical of Chardonnay, with a saline and mineral finish that prolongs the pleasure in the mouth.
The price of the Cramant 20 - Valentin Leflaive Champagne bottle is 82,95 €. This Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, from an exceptional terroir and crafted with care, is an essential reference for lovers of exceptional champagnes.
