Louis Roederer
Vintage 2008 | Magnum 150cl - Presentation pack
This 2008 Vintage is presented here in a Deluxe box. An exceptional vintage after a difficult year that led to ideal, slow, gradual ripening of the grapes. This resulted in an exceptional natural balance between freshness and concentrated flavors. Made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, 37% of the wines are vinified in wood (oak foudres) with weekly stirring of the lees, with no malolactic fermentation. The Cuvée Millésime 2008 benefits from an average of 4 years' cellar ageing, plus 6 months' rest after disgorgement to perfect its maturity. The dosage is 9 g/l. To the eye, a golden color with shimmering reflections illuminated by the emergence of bubbles.A classic bouquet of Verzenay/Verzy's great Pinots Noirs, with ripe fruit: white fruit (Williams pear), vine peach, combined with more tangy notes of citrus zest. Dried fruits are also present, extended by toasty notes from both the French oak ageing and autolysis. The palate is dense, round and voluptuous, characteristic of Louis Roederer's clay-limestone Vintage estate. The fruit is juicy and fleshy, turning red (fig) and even floral with hints of rose. Tart flavors follow with citrus, spice, fresh wood and dark chocolate. The allure is energetic and invigorating, both structured and pure. The wine's density and fruit are supported, in the strongest sense of the word, by freshness, elegance and length. This 2008 vintage concentrates the substance and strength of this great vintage in an intense, energetic, high-flying exercise.
