The 2015 Vintage magnum from Maison Louis Roederer expresses the intensity and great concentration of Verzy's Pinots Noirs in a spectacularly continental vintage.
The 2015 vintage represents not only an extraordinary harvest, but also the recognition of Champagne as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! The ripening of the grapes, thanks to a cool late summer, gave birth to juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes.
Vintage 2015 is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir from Verzy (Montagne de Reims) and 30% Chardonnay from Chouilly (Côte des Blancs). This cuvée is partially aged in wood (34%) to bring a gourmet touch to the wine. Its Brut dosage of 8 g/L brings a lovely roundness to the wine.
This Louis Roederer champagne has a deep yellow color with shimmering amber highlights. Its effervescence is dynamic and intense.
The intense Pinot Noir bouquet blends tart red fruit aromas (redcurrant) with juicy, sun-drenched yellow fruit notes (mirabelle plum, vine peach). After a few minutes' aeration, the nose expresses the traditional aromas of "La Montagne" Pinot Noir, with hints of dried, smoky fruit, combined with acidulous, spicy notes of white pepper.
On the palate, the wine is dynamic, concentrated and powerful. The texture is fleshy and vinous, with an acidic presence that clearly integrates concentrated juice and freshness. The structure is precise, almost classic and firm, but the fruitiness gradually gives way to the sweetness of chocolate notes and even a slight roasting.
The finish reveals concentrated, roasted and candied fruit, supported by saline, salivating flavors. The final sensation is beautifully unbound, generous and graceful.
