The Rosé 2016 produced by Maison Louis Roederer is a deep, fruity champagne rosé, delivering all the ripeness and intensity of a continental, dry and luminous summer!
The year 2016 was characterized by a particularly pronounced climatic pendulum: a cool, wet spring, a dry, hot summer marked by a heatwave at the end of August, and a dry, sunny harvest that ensured the grapes ripened beautifully. These conditions benefited the Pinots Noirs, whose ripeness revealed intense fruit character and a silky texture. The Chardonnays, with their more classic allure, are chiselled.
To produce its rosé champagnes, Louis Roederer has developed a technique unique to Champagne: infusion. This technique consists of integrating Chardonnay juices into a Pinot Noir maceration so that they ferment together and integrate perfectly. This blends the ripe, full-bodied character of the Pinots with the freshness of the Chardonnays.
Rosé 2016 blends 62% Pinot Noir with 38% Chardonnay. This blend is 21% vinified in wood.
This cuvée is salmon-colored, with bright red highlights. The color is deep and the effervescence fine and delicate.
On the nose, the bouquet reveals intensity and aromatic freshness, blending ripe, juicy yellow fruit, slightly acidic red fruit and citrus. On aeration, more jammy notes of red apricot emerge.
The attack on the palate is caressing, juicy and concentrated, followed by a saline, chalky freshness that makes the material very voluptuous and delicate. The aromas already present on the nose are echoed, with ripe, crunchy fruit and citrus giving a zesty, even slightly bitter allure. The finish is salivating, giving an impression of infinite length.
