The Rosé 2017 crafted by the House of Louis Roederer is a deep and fruity rosé champagne, delivering all the indulgence and nuances of a demanding vintage!
To create its rosé champagnes, the House of Louis Roederer has developed a unique technique in Champagne: infusion. This technique involves integrating Chardonnay juices into a maceration of Pinot Noirs so that they ferment together and integrate perfectly. This allows the ripe and structured side of the Pinots to be married with the freshness of the Chardonnays.
The Rosé Vintage 2017 cuvée is the result of a vintage that was both difficult and exceptional. The year 2017 was characterized by a particularly mild winter and spring, followed by a gloomy, humid, and cool summer. The end of August was humid and warm. It was necessary to harvest quickly, with precise selection work. The harvest, carried out between August 31 and September 9, allowed the collection of perfectly ripe grapes, particularly the Pinot Noir from Cumières and the Chardonnay from Chouilly, two historic terroirs of the House of Louis Roederer.
The Rosé Vintage 2017 is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. This champagne is crafted using the saignée method, which involves a long and gentle infusion of Pinot Noir grapes, allowing the extraction of all the richness of the aromas while preserving the saline freshness of the wine. A portion of the wines (29%) was vinified in oak barrels, and 24% of the wines underwent malolactic fermentation, bringing roundness and complexity to the cuvée. The dosage is adjusted to 8g/L, perfectly balancing the acidity and sweetness of the champagne.
The Rosé Vintage 2017 is dressed in a salmon-colored robe with brilliant red reflections. The color is sustained and the effervescence is fine and delicate.
On the nose, the bouquet reveals notes of woodland fruits (wild strawberries and raspberries) and citrus (blood orange). On the second nose, iodized and chocolatey nuances stand out, with a spicy touch.
The attack on the palate is silky, all in delicacy. Then the palate of the Rosé Vintage 2017 becomes very expressive. The fruitiness is concentrated, powerful, and dynamic. In the finish, the chocolatey nuances, very indulgent, combine with the chalky freshness to give a long, pure, and saline impression.
The price of the bottle of Rosé Vintage 2017 from Louis Roederer is 91,95 €. This price is particularly attractive for a vintage rosé of this quality, offering an excellent quality-price ratio. This champagne of great finesse is a perfect choice for lovers of exceptional champagnes.
