Cristal from Roederer is a legendary cuvée! A champagne created in 1876 in response to a request from Tsar Alexander II, already a great fan of Louis Roederer cuvées, for something even more exceptional, a cuvée unique in bottle and quality.
Louis Roederer had a special cuvée made from the 7 most famous crus of his vineyard. The cuvée is paired with a crystal bottle specially designed for the occasion.
Cristal Roederer is only produced in great vintages, when the ripeness of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes enables a subtle, precise balance to be achieved.
Made from a blend of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay, 15% of which is vinified in oak foudres, this is a concentrated, mature and dense champagne.
The climate in 2007, with a warm spring and cool summer, produced grapes of excellent ripeness, and wines with a superb balance between substance and purity.
In its 2007 vintage, Cuvée Cristal is a brilliant, slightly amber, golden color. Its bubbles are fine and subdued.
Roederer Cristal 2007 is stirred once a week. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to preserve freshness. The dosage is 9.5g/l.
The Cristal cuvée brings together Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs regions.
Cristal 2007 has a golden-gold color with warm, slightly orange highlights. Its bubbles are fine, regular and dynamic.
On the nose, this champagne reveals notes of pear, slightly tart red fruit, and hints of warm pastries and freshly baked Tatin. On the second nose, aromas of white chocolate and hazelnuts emerge. This juxtaposition of ripe, tangy, sweet fruit aromas with more toasty notes of ageing strengthens over time, giving a real impression of depth.
On the palate, Cristal 2007 Roederer asserts itself with a dense, fruity attack. Smoky notes prolong the wine, again giving an impression of natural depth. This is a champagne with a silky, velvety, almost melt-in-the-mouth texture that perfectly coats the wine's freshness.
Cristal 2007 is a magnificent example of Cristal's "discreet power": here, it's not the strength of the vintage that expresses itself, but rather the ultimate finesse of the estate's limestone subsoils and the concentration of the old vines that are retained in the making of Cristal.
