The myth, the living legend, perhaps the most famous cuvée in the world. Roederer 's Cristal 2005 is a unique and rare champagne.
In 1876, Louis Roederer exported 60% of its production to the court of Tsar Alexander II of Russia. The latter took offense at being served the same champagne as the rest of his court. Louis Roederer had a special cuvée of his finest vintage, made from the ten most famous vintages in his vineyard, produced for his privileged client in a crystal bottle specially designed for the occasion. A cuvée that has become legendary.
Made from a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, 20% of which is vinified in oak foudres.
In its 2005 vintage, Cuvée Cristal is a brilliant golden, slightly amber color. Its bubbles are fine and dynamic.
The Cristal Roederer nose is intense and ripe, with notes of apple, yellow fruit and slightly acid citrus.
After a few minutes, aromas of white flowers, dried fruit and pastries emerge.
On the palate, the attack is ample, elegant and vinous. The palate is round, silky and airy. Aromas of white fruit and yellow fruit emerge, followed by effervescence and minerality to create a pure, slender impression.
The finish is greedy, almost sweet, with a pure, vinous resonance.
