      Description

      This Extra-Brut cuvée is one of Maison Rémi Leroy's flagship cuvées, and with its unique soil, this bottle was bound to be just as unique!

      This champagne is made from the 3 Champagne grape varieties, with Pinot Noir dominating (60%), a third of Chardonnay (35%) and a touch of Meunier (5%). These grapes come from Meurville in the Côte des Bar region, where the vines are around twenty years old and planted on clay-limestone soils.

      The majority of the vineyard is located on hillsides, but the particularity of the Meurville cru is its very poor soils with a shallow layer of soil. On such soils, where the vine must naturally suffer to ensure its growth, Rémi's viticulture produces fruit and juices of remarkable typicity.

      This cuvée is rich with ripe Pinots Noirs, aged on lees with batonnage and 30% reserve wines in the blend. Low yields, a reasonable amount of organic matter added to the soil and the perfect ripeness we aim for give the Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes a higher-than-normal concentration.

      This cuvée has an amber color, with no bleaching techniques.

      The nose reveals spicy, fruity, brioche and slightly peppery notes.

      On the palate, the attack is supple and the wine is round, full-bodied, structured and taut, with a fine finish.

      This Extra-Brut from Maison Rémi Leroy goes well with foie gras and mango maki, or rice pudding with chestnuts and figs.
