The Piper-Heidsieck range impresses with its great purity and mastery of the Cuvée Essentiel. Available in a pure Chardonnay version, the Essentiel Blanc de Blancs cuvée, Essentiel Blanc de Blancs, we discover a blend of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Sézannais with a minimum of 35% reserve wines. The Cuvée Rare plays in a different category. Its 2008 vintage, one of the most beautiful of these last years in Champagne, is remarkable. It offers the discovery of a pure and infinite spring, and an exceptional complexity.

The Piper-Heidsieck Vineyard

The grapes of Piper-Heidsieck come from the best terroirs of the Champagne region. The House benefits from vineyards located mainly in the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blancs, and the Marne Valley. These terroirs are renowned for their chalky soils that produce grapes of great freshness and beautiful aromatic complexity. The Piper-Heidsieck vineyard extends over more than 65 hectares, and the House supplies itself from 240 partner winemakers, spread over more than 110 crus.

Winemaking at Piper-Heidsieck

The winemaking at Piper-Heidsieck respects Champagne traditions while integrating modern techniques. The harvests are carried out manually to guarantee the quality of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in thermoregulated stainless steel vats, allowing precise temperature control. A resting time in the cellar for several years ensures the development of aromatic complexity and the finesse of the bubbles. In 1995, the new winery was inaugurated with more than 200 vats, allowing precise control of the blends, terroir by terroir.

The Current Cellar Master of Piper-Heidsieck

The talented Emilien Boutillat is the current cellar master of Piper-Heidsieck. Taking over the torch in 2018, he became the youngest cellar master of a great Champagne House to date. His expertise and dedication ensure the continuity of the House's unique style. Emilien Boutillat oversees every step of the champagne-making process, guaranteeing the quality and excellence for which Piper-Heidsieck is renowned.

The Owning Family of Piper-Heidsieck

Piper-Heidsieck belongs to the Descours family, which also owns several other prestigious estates. Their commitment to excellence and their passion for champagne are reflected in each cuvée, contributing to maintaining Piper-Heidsieck's reputation as one of the most respected Houses in the region. The French luxury group EPI (Entreprise Patrimoniale d’Investissements) controlled by the Descours family acquired the House in 2011.

Piper-Heidsieck has always known how to captivate with its fascinating stories. A famous anecdote is that Marilyn Monroe declared that she never started her day without a glass of Piper-Heidsieck champagne. Moreover, the House has often been chosen to celebrate the most glamorous moments of the Cannes Film Festival, reinforcing its image as the champagne of cinema and stars. In 1933, Piper-Heidsieck made its first appearance on the big screen in the film "Les Compagnons de la nouba" by Laurel and Hardy. Since 1993, the House has supplied the greatest film festivals in the world, notably the Cannes Film Festival and the Oscars. In 2022, Piper-Heidsieck obtained B Corp certification, a recognition of its efforts in terms of social and environmental responsibility.
