The cuvée Nicole Moncuit Vieilles Vignes 2004 from Pierre Moncuit demonstrates all the fine skills of this champagne house.
This flagship champagne is crafted from low yielding old vines of over 50 years of age which produce dense and concentrated wines, and is only made in exceptional years.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasCuvée Nicole Moncuit Vieilles Vignes 2004 has a golden yellow color with golden highlights. Its bubbles are fine, but very present.
On the nose, this is a surprising champagne, with aromas of dried fruits, hazelnuts and almonds. The nose is full of freshness, with notes of chalky minerality.
On the palate, the attack is pleasant, with a lovely richness enhanced by mineral notes that give it a fine balance. On the finish, the hazelnut and toasted almond notes discovered on the nose are repeated.
Cuvée Nicole Moncuit Vieilles Vignes 2004 is a champagne for meals or aperitif-dinners. I recommend serving this cuvée at a temperature of 9°C.
