      Description

Grand Blanc Extra-Brut 2015, blended solely from Chardonnay, is an exception in the Philipponnat range, which has made Pinot Noir its signature. A unique opportunity to discover a variation on the House style in the form of a Grand Blanc de Blancs.

2015 was perfectly in line with the continental trend of the decade, with a mild, wet winter and a hot, dry summer. Thanks to a cool late summer, ripening produced juicy, ripe, concentrated grapes - a spectacular vintage.

This cuvée is made from the first pressings of Chardonnays from the Premiers and Grands Crus villages of Mareuil-sur-Ay, Vertus, Trépail and Verzenay.

The wines are vinified partly in stainless steel tanks, with partial malolactic fermentation, and partly in wood, without malolactic fermentation. The Extra-Brut dosage of 4.25 g/L preserves the purity and nobility of its origin.

The cuvée has spent 6 to 8 years in the House cellars to develop its aromas and bring out the secondary and tertiary flavors, the hallmarks of prolonged aging on the lees.

This cuvée is light gold in color, with a fine, abundant effervescence.

The nose is fresh and expressive, with notes of ripe fruit, mirabelle plums and apricots. On aeration, notes of wildflower honey emerge.

Fresh and creamy on the palate, with delicate citrus notes. The finish is long and persistent, with a beautiful mineral touch and a few spicy notes.

Maison Philipponnat's Grand Blanc 2015 is a champagne to be served as an aperitif around 7°C, but also at the table around 10°C to accompany white fish or shellfish.
