      Description

The Grand Blanc Extra-Brut 2011, blended exclusively from Chardonnay, is an exception in the Philipponnat range, which has made Pinot Noir its signature. A unique opportunity to discover a variation on the House style in the form of a Grand Blanc de Blancs.

2011 was a year of contrasts, with alternating rain, cool weather and hot spells from the end of May onwards. The key to this year's success was undoubtedly yield control, precise viticulture and careful harvesting. The 2011 vintage expresses finesse rather than power.

This cuvée is made from Chardonnays exclusively from the Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs of the Côte des Blancs and Trépail on the Montagne de Reims.

The wines are vinified partly in stainless steel tanks, with partial malolactic fermentation, and partly in wood, without malolactic fermentation.

Grand Blanc 2011 is an elegant wine that required only a very light dosage (4.25 g/L) to perfect its balance and preserve its purity. The cuvée spent 7 years in the House cellars to develop its aromas and bring out the secondary and tertiary aromas, the hallmarks of prolonged aging on the lees.

This champagne has a pale gold color with green highlights and a fine, active effervescence.

The fine, elegant nose reveals aromas of white flowers, hawthorn, elderberry and citrus.

The palate is elegant, expressing lemony notes of yuzu and lemon, marked by a fresh finish with hints of mint and sour cream.

Grand Blanc 2011 Extra-Brut Philipponnat is a champagne to be served as an aperitif at 8°C, but also at 10°C to accompany white fish poached or in sauce, or shellfish.
