      Description

Cuvée 1522 Millésime 2009 from Maison Philipponnat is a fresh, fruity champagne whose powerful aromas make it a fine choice for the table.

It's a cuvée built around the terroir of Aÿ, the village where the Philipponnat family took root in 1522.

2009 was a year of contrasts, with a harsh winter followed by a stormy spring. Fortunately, five weeks of hot, dry weather just before the harvest ensured exceptional health. The vintage is very fruity and of moderate aciditý.

Cuvée 1522 Millésime 2009 Philipponnat is a marriage of 69% Pinot Noir, from Léon, the house's historic vineyard, and 31% Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Part of the wine is vinified in wood, without malolactic fermentation, giving it greater aromatic complexity, while retaining good tension. The dosage is low (4.25g/l), just enough to balance the wine perfectly.

Cuvée 1522 2009 Philipponnat has a beautiful pale gold color studded with fine, lively bubbles.

The nose is intense, with notes of fruit tree blossom, cherry, elderberry and hints of violet.

On the palate, this is a gourmet champagne, with an aromatic palette of black fruits (blackberry, ripe or even candied blackcurrant, black cherry), complemented by notes of almond and dried fruit. The finish is very fresh for the vintage.

This is a full-bodied, powerful champagne that goes well with aromatic dishes such as game.
