      Description

Clos des Goisses by Philipponnat is one of Champagne's legendary cuvées. It's an intense champagne, with floral and spicy notes on the nose and a fruity, mineral mouthfeel.

Clos des Goisses is the oldest Clos in Champagne. It is totally unique in that its extreme 45° slope and south-facing position give it maximum sunshine. It's also an exceptional parcel thanks to the significant presence of chalk, which literally outcrops, giving the cuvée its characteristic minerality.

Clos des Goisses 2007 is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. Half of the blend is vinified in oak barrels to add a touch of complexity. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out, so that the natural acidity offsets the great power of the terroir.

Clos des Goisses 2007 Philipponnat is blended as an Extra Brut (4.25g/l), so as not to distort the vinosity and minerality of this exceptional parcel.

Clos des Goisses 2007 has a brilliant gold color. Its mousse is fine and delicate.

On the nose, this very fine champagne reveals notes of white flowers, infusion and lime blossom, then evolves towards a more toasty touch (cocoa, blond tobacco, vanilla...).

On the palate, Clos des Goisses is rich, with notes of ripe fruit. The mineral framework is very present, supporting the aromas through to a very persistent finish.

Clos des Goisses is a champagne that goes well with truffles, caviar or soft cheeses. To aerate it, this cuvée should be decanted before serving.
