      Description

Blanc de Noirs 2014 from Philipponnat is a fruity, fresh champagne. It's a cuvée that will find a fine place as an aperitif, but also at the table, accompanying fine poultry or even foie gras.

This champagne is made exclusively from Pinots Noirs from the Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, as well as Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Aÿ in the Marne valley.

2014 was a year of contrasts. After a mild autumn and winter, spring was particularly warm, hastening vine growth. But a cool, rainy summer led to fears of the worst. Finally, the harvest began in mid-September and produced grapes of excellent quality.

This Blanc de Noirs 2014 was vinified mainly in stainless steel tanks (80%), but part of the wine (20%) was vinified and aged in oak barrels to bring fatness and patina to the wine. By making these choices, Charles Philipponnat achieves a beautiful balance between the wine's character and its purity.

This Blanc de Noirs 2014 has a light gold color, with fine, dynamic bubbles.

The nose is fruity and expressive, with hints of redcurrant, quince and citrus. The fact that some of the wine is aged in wood adds a gourmet touch, with notes of honey and a hint of toast and spice.

On the palate, this cuvée has a fresh, clean attack, then unfolds beautiful fruit notes. The mineral texture is reminiscent of chalk.

The finish is long and persistent, with an elegant resonance of pepper and spice.
