Philipponnat's Blanc de Noirs 2011 is a masterful demonstration of the house's expertise in winemaking and blending Pinot Noirs.
It's a champagne made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Aÿ.
The 2011 vintage is a vintage of contrasts: after a harsh, dry winter, the spring was early and warm, favoring rapid vegetation growth. The rest of the season alternated between hot weather and rain. With the first grapes picked at the end of August, the 2011 harvest became the earliest in Champagne's history, offering a vintage full of finesse.
The Blanc de Noirs 2011 Philipponnat was vinified partly in vats, with partial malolactic fermentation, and partly in oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation.
The dosage is Extra Brut (4.25g/l) to maintain a fine balance between freshness and vinosity, without masking the wine's character and purity.
