      Description

Cuvée 1522 is an exceptional champagne built around the Terroir of Aÿ. A true tribute to the year the Philipponnat family settled in the village of Aÿ, it is made from Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonnay (30%) from the House's best plots. Its dry, full-bodied character makes it an excellent gastronomic champagne, ideal for accompanying a seafood platter, capon or Indian tandoori.

The year 2006 was marked by highly contrasting climatic conditions, yet it produced an excellent and miraculous vintage. A hot, sunny July preceded a cold, rainy August, which was certainly threatening but finally led to a perfect balance in September. This vintage is characterized by a certain acidity tempered by a pleasant suppleness.

It is a champagne vinified in wood without malolactic fermentation, which adds a touch of complexity and preserves itsfreshness.

Its Extra Brut dosage (4.25g/l) gives it the Cuvée's signature tangy mouthfeel.

Before being offered for sale, this champagne is kept for 7 years in the Maison's cellars, where it is aged on its lees, giving it a magnificent freshness.

The brilliant gold color is adorned with delicate pinkish highlights, pierced by fine, persistent bubbles.

The expressive, powerful nose reveals pleasant notes of elderflower, to which are added spicy aromas of white pepper and blond tobacco.

The palate is very fruity, with a blend of raspberries and red fruits. This is followed by fragrances of young leather and almond cream.

Cuvée 1522 can be kept for at least 10 years before drinking, to enhance its roundness.
