      Description

Cuvée Grand Blanc 2007 is an exceptional champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay from Premiers and Grands Crus (Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, Clos des Goisses). As Pinot Noir is the hallmark of the Maison Philipponnat, this Blanc de Blancs is a unique opportunity to discover a new facet of Champagne expertise. Very pleasant, with incomparable finesse, it is a perfect match for a seafood platter or an aperitif.

The 2007 vintage brought together all the climatic conditions required for good grape ripening. A particularly mild winter, followed by a warm spring, enabled an early and generous harvest.

This is a traditionally vinified champagne, for which malolactic fermentation was partially carried out to balance freshness and roundness.

Part of the wine is vinified in barrels, for added complexity.

Qualified as extra brut, its low dosage (4.25 g/L) preserves its original purity.

Before being offered for sale, the Cuvée Grand Blanc was kept in the Maison's cellars for a period of 7 years, to ensure a highly developed aromatic bouquet.

      Tasting

      By Patrick Borras

      Robe

Grand Blanc 2007 Philipponnat has a pale yellow color with golden highlights. Its bubbles are fine and intense.

      Nose

Discreet on the first nose, it later becomes very flattering with very fruity aromas. Fresher notes of citrus (pink grapefruit), and a few fragrances of white flowers, enhance this beautiful aromatic palette.

      Palate

The attack is rich and unctuous, with a perfect balance between vinosity and freshness, giving this champagne a very gourmand aspect.

      Service

This cuvée can be served as an aperitif and then with the start of a meal. I recommend serving it at a temperature of 9°C.
