Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV is emblematic of the House of Henri Giraud. It is a founding cuvée in the history of the house, so much so that it defines its style.
Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV18 (for Multi Vintage base 2018) is built around the 2018 harvest, which accounts for 2/3 of the blend. It is completed by wines from a perpetual reserve started in 1990.
True to the house style, Pinot Noir is in the majority (80%), accompanied by fine Aÿ Chardonnays. The wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels for 1 year. Half of the barrels used are new, giving the wine a more pronounced woody note.
This cuvée is insanely complex and incredibly rich, thanks to the Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ, but also to the oaks of the Argonne forest, which give it its characteristic velvety texture.
The wine reveals notes of apricot, peach, tangerine, spices and dried flowers. The palate is fruity, with a gourmand touch and a saline finish.
This cuvée Fût de Chêne MV18 from Maison Henri Giraud is the perfect accompaniment to a chic aperitif, but also goes well with truffle risotto or scallops with white wine cream.
