Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV is emblematic of the House of Henri Giraud. It is a founding cuvée in the history of the house, so much so that it defines its style.
Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV15 (for Multi Vintage base 2015) is built around the 2015 harvest, which accounts for 2/3 of the blend. It is completed by wines from a perpetual reserve begun in 1990.
True to the house style, Pinot Noir is in the majority (80%), accompanied by fine Aÿ Chardonnays. The wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels for 1 year. Half of the barrels used are new, giving the wine a more pronounced woody note.
This cuvée is insanely complex and incredibly rich, thanks to the Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ, but also to the oaks of the Argonne forest, which give it its characteristic velvety texture.
Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV15 Henri Giraud has an intense, deep color.
Its nose reveals rich, gourmand notes evoking ripe fruit and spices.
On the palate, the wine is straightforward and taut, opening up to a silky mouthfeel. A hint of salt and mineral awakens the taste buds. The finish is fresh, with a hint of menthol.
A magnificent cuvée for connoisseurs.
