L'Argonne 2002 Henri Giraud is the cuvée most representative of the house's approach and style.
Based on a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, it is entirely vinified and aged in oak barrels. These small barrels are made from oak from the Argonne forest, a few dozen kilometers from Aÿ. The oaks used were selected by merandier Camille Gauthier.
The Cuvée Argonne 2002 Henri Giraud is corked, allowing the wine to age better.
This champagne is produced in extremely limited quantities, and each bottle is numbered.
Argonne 2002 Henri Giraud has a deep gold color, with slightly orange highlights, studded with fine bubbles.
The nose is complex and rich, with notes of brioche and pastry, which evolve into woody aromas and a touch of vinosity.
On the palate, this champagne offers a fine attack, with elegant oxidative notes and a touch of wood. Notes of walnut, hazelnut and toasted almonds appear on the palate, followed by fruit notes. The palate is silky, rich, elegant and well structured. The finish is remarkable, with aromas of vanilla and spices.
