Cuvée Code Noir was created by Henri Giraud to celebrate the world's first decoding of the vine genome from the Pinot Noir grape variety in September 2007.
This Blanc de Noirs cuvée is unique in that it is aged exclusively in small oak barrels from the Argonne forest, Champagne's historic forest.
It's a Champagne with a delicate, luminous blond color, married to a creamy effervescence.
A wine with a ripe nose, combining finesse and complexity.
Aromas of cooked pear and cherry follow through to gourmet notes of yellow flowers, peach, vanilla and white pepper, then warm up with lovely honeyed, finely spiced aromas that augur well for the future.
On the palate, this dense, vinous cuvée combines the tension of its effervescence with superb freshness.
On the palate, the soft texture and clean, chalky impression on the finish are the hallmarks of a very fine aromatic palette.
