Description

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003 P2 is an exceptional cuvée that expands in all dimensions to become fuller, deeper and more intense. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003 Plénitude 2 gives a second life to the 2003 vintage, revealing its insolent freshness.

The year 2003 will be remembered in Champagne for its unprecedented heatwave, resulting in the earliest harvest since 1822. Dom Pérignon made innovative choices to interpret this exceptional year.

There are 3 stages in the development of a Dom Pérignon vintage, 3 periods that reveal the features of a cuvée without ever denying its personality.

First, there is the first plenitude, which reveals itself after a minimum of seven years of maturation on lees, or more depending on the vintage.

The second fullness, P2, is the time of energy: after a minimum of twelve years maturing on the lees, the wine's intensity is magnified.

The third fullness comes after a minimum of 20 years' ageing, and is the time of complexity and depth.

The nose of this cuvée reveals the floral sweetness of lime blossom, followed by the grilled, toasty, ashy minerality so typical of Dom Pérignon. Then notes of dried apricot, candied raspberry and fig appear. The unexpected freshness of verbena, white pepper and rosemary rises for a moment, before plunging into dark, spicy, licorice wood.

On the palate, the wine is physical and appealing, more tactile and vibrant than aromatic. It envelops with its substance, before withdrawing into a deep verticality, stretching slowly into the hollow of a bitter, iodized and sapid flavor.
