The Blanc de Blancs 2013 from Maison Bruno Paillard is a joyful, lively wine. It is not dominated by any one of its components, and opens up to blossom perfectly, fully. To illustrate this wine, the artist Anne Commet was commissioned on the theme of "Liberty".
The 2013 vintage is marked by a sensation of limpid, crystalline freshness, gradually revealing the fullness of a generous summer.
This cuvée is made exclusively from the purest first press of Chardonnay Grands Crus. These grapes are picked in the heart of the Côte des Blancs at Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, with 25% of the blend vinified in small old oak barrels. The whole is aged for 7 years in the cellar, with a minimum of 12 to 18 months' rest after disgorging, to enable this champagne to reach such a high level of expression. The low dosage of 4.5 g/L also contributes to the pure, elegant character of this vintage champagne.
This 2013 vintage has a brilliant pale gold color, dotted with a fine, chiselled effervescence.
The nose is fresh, biting and full. It reveals notes of cold ash and hawthorn, followed by aromas of white peach, lemon verbena and fresh almond.
On the palate, the attack is lively, precise, crystalline and limpid, diffusing a magnificent salinity. The wine then covers the palate with a texture that is both ample and melted. An almost mentholated freshness is revealed, accompanied as the wine opens by a slightly fleshy fruitiness and hints of the evolution towards roasted hazelnuts.
This Blanc de Blancs 2013 from Maison Bruno Paillard calls for a texture of monkfish or prawns.
