      Description

Bollinger's Grande Année 2005 is an intense, rich champagne that's perfect for the table.

This cuvée is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (from the terroirs of Aÿ and Verzenay) and 30% Chardonnay (mainly from the terroirs of Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger), with 95% of the grapes classified as Grands Crus and the remaining 5% as Premiers Crus.

One of the special features of Cuvée La Grande Année is that it is fermented entirely in barrels, which gives it its characteristic power and aromas.

The 2005 vintage was generous and easy, offering grapes of excellent ripeness. It was this perfect balance between acidity and sweetness that prompted Bollinger to produce a Grande Année from the 2005 vintage.

The dosage of this champagne is moderate, around 6 grams per liter.

Bollinger Grande Année 2005 has a deep golden color, reflecting the maturity of this champagne.

On the nose, this cuvée opens with notes of honey, gingerbread and cinnamon, before revealing lighter aromas of dried fruit and dried flowers.

On the palate, La Grande Année 2005 has a round, full attack, which then gives way to aromas of pastry, candied orange and ripe fruit, complemented by a discreet touch of undergrowth and vanilla.

The finish is focused on freshness and finesse. It lingers for long seconds on the palate.

Bollinger's Grande Année 2005 is a champagne that will find its place at the table.
