The Making of La Grande Année 2015 Bollinger

La Grande Année 2015 embodies the unique savoir-faire of Bollinger. It is crafted from the finest terroirs of Champagne, classified as Premier and Grand Crus. As is traditional at Bollinger, Pinot Noir is predominant, with 60% here coming notably from Aÿ, Verzenay, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. It is complemented by 40% Chardonnay from Chouilly and Avize. The 2015 vintage was marked by a dry and sunny growing season, yielding grapes of beautiful maturity and great aromatic intensity.

The vinification of La Grande Année 2015 is carried out exclusively in oak barrels, averaging 20 years old, maintained in the cooperage of the House. Bollinger thus possesses a collection of over 3,500 barrels and even employs a cooper, a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, on-site. The riddling and disgorgement, entirely done by hand, follow the aging of the bottles under a cork stopper. This long aging is one of the keys to the Bollinger style. The dosage is moderate, with only 8 grams per liter, thus preserving the purity of the aromas and the expression of the terroir.
