This very fine vintage is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Meunier, two grape varieties from the estate's finest 1er and Grand Cru parcels.
Part of the wine is aged in oak barrels to develop the expressiveness of this cuvée. The dosage is Extra Brut (5g/l), highlighting the wine's gourmet character while preserving its freshness.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasNicolas Maillart's 2008 vintage has an old gold color with straw-yellow highlights. Its bubbles are very fine and delicate.
The nose is charming, with aromas of fresh fruit, a hint of flowers and honey, and a touch of minerality that gives the nose a certain freshness.
On the palate, the attack is very silky, pleasant and unctuous, yet fresh. Its liveliness is enhanced by citrus aromas (yuzu and lemon). This is a very well-balanced champagne, with a very unctuous vinosity and a very mineral freshness.
This cuvée can accompany both an aperitif and a meal. I recommend serving it at a temperature of 9°C.
