Hautes Mottes 2013 from Domaine JL Vergnon is a single-vineyard, single-cellar, vintage champagne, full of subtleties.
This cuvée is a 100% Chardonnay from the 2013 harvest on the "Les Hautes Mottes" parcel of the Oger Grand Cru terroir.
2013 was a particularly late cycle, but the radiant summer provided maximum sunshine and low rainfall, ideal parameters for ripening Chardonnays. The autumn harvest produced elegant, fresh wines.
The grapes are vinified in 300-liter oak barrels, and after bottling, the bottles are aged for 8 years.
This champagne has a deep golden-yellow color with fine, lively bubbles.
The initial nose is fairly discreet, with notes of lemon cookies and white flowers. Then it reveals more character, with notes of spices, yellow flowers and chalk.
The palate is sharp and taut before releasing its freshness and lightness.
A very fine cuvée with ageing potential of up to 20 years.
