Description

La Cave Privée Rosé 1979 is a truly exceptional bottle. It's a cuvée that takes us back 35 years, to the end of a decade that didn't produce many long-keeping vintages.
1979 is the exception, thanks to a late harvest and grapes that took their time to ripen. One of the special features of this cuvée is the high proportion of Bouzy red wine (19%). The cuvée is made up of 22 Grands Crus and Premiers Crus from the Montagne de Reims, Grande Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs regions.
Today's color is warm and deep, with hints of copper. The nose is heady, with notes of saffron, curry, leather, black fruit and a hint of brandy. The palate is youthful, striking in its freshness and the saline character that comes from our chalky terroir. The greedy finish has a texture that comes from the formidable Pinot Noir, and the bubbles are discreet. For such a wonderful wine for laying down, effervescence is secondary. It's enough on its own to round off a meal.
