Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin 's Vintage 2002 is a blend of 17 Grands Crus and Premiers Crus (60% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 7% Pinot Meunier) from the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, the most prestigious terroirs in Champagne.
The 2002 harvest was excellent, with few climatic accidents, low rainfall and a mild winter. The harvest began in mid-September and was sunny and windy. The alcoholic strength of the grapes was in line with the Champagne average of the last 10 years, with moderate acidity.
Cuvée Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 is a fairly low dosage champagne (9g/l), giving it a lively character.
This champagne has a pale gold color with silver highlights, and a lively, persistent effervescence.
The nose is open, pure and complex, with floral notes of acacia.
If you let this Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 open up a little, you'll discover notes of yellow-fleshed fruit and brioche, before some sweet spice aromas appear.
On the palate, this wine is silky and generous. The promises made by the nose are kept and even exceeded, with complex fruity, floral, mineral, spicy and toasty aromas.
In the right conditions, this Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 will keep for 10 to 15 years, during which it will develop complexity and aromatic richness.
