Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2009 is a unique vintage in which Chardonnay was able to express its complexity and elegance while retaining great freshness. Its notes of fresh almonds and ripe yellow fruit recall the sunny, dry summer of 2009.
Half a century after the first Dom Ruinart harvest, this new vintage is composed exclusively of Chardonnay Grands Crus, 82% from the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Avize, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and 18% from the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims (including Sillery, the House's historic Grand Cru). This blend gives this wine complexity and freshness, as well as power and elegance.
This cuvée is vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the great purity of the grapes and their terroirs. The bottles benefit from 8 years' extended aging in the house cellars, to allow the wine to develop and complexify its broad aromatic palette. This cuvée is dosed at 4 g/L Extra Brut to underline its beautiful nuances without masking them.
Dom Ruinart 2009 is a radiant, intense golden color with almond-green highlights.
On the nose, this vintage is sunny without being excessive, offering both fleshy fruity and crisp fragrances (lemon, apricot, nectarine). The fruitiness is complemented by floral notes of white flowers with honeyed accents. The nose then evolves towards candied fruit, fresh almond paste and calisson d'Aix, combined with a fresh, chalky register.
On the palate, the wine is complex and elegant, with delicate acidity, lovely freshness and surprising sapidity. Dom Ruinart 2009 is a well-balanced wine, both lively and round, with a persistent, subtle finish. The fine effervescence underlines its refined texture.
The sunny notes of this Dom Ruinart 2009 cuvée, combined with its intense freshness, make it ideal for a wide range of dishes, such as sea bass fillet with peas, almonds and lemon, or risotto with zucchini flowers, burrata and lemon and orange zests.
