Inspired by paintings by Winston Churchill, Tess Costil, a student at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, won the 2019 Winston Churchill Design Competition. Launched in collaboration with the house of Pol Roger, the competition asked each entrant to imagine a case for Brut Réserve.

Tess Costil's creation was inspired by one of her most famous paintings: "The Goldfish Pool at Chartwell".

The case has been produced in a limited edition for the end of 2020.

Pol Roger's Brut Réserve is made from some thirty different crus, themselves from different vintages. The blend evolves each year, maintaining the authenticity of the Pol Roger style harvest after harvest. Each year, however, we find around a third of each of the three main grape varieties of Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

After clarification at 8°C, a technique that only Pol Roger uses, the wines are fermented in separate cuvées according to their origin, in order to preserve the wine's primary aromas. This cuvée is aged for a minimum of 3 years in the cellars of the Pol Roger house in Epernay.

Pol Roger Brut Réserve is a straw-yellow champagne with abundant, fine effervescence.

The nose is powerful and inviting, initially revealing aromas of pear and mango, followed by honeysuckle, white jasmine and vanilla.

On the palate, the Brut Réserve Pol Roger offers, behind a frank and dynamic attack, a beautiful harmony and a pleasant freshness. Flavors of cooked fruit (quince jelly, apricot jam...) combine with fragrances of beeswax and acacia honey. With fruity notes (candied orange zest, mandarin orange...) and spicy notes (cardamom, green anise...), the aromatic persistence is absolutely remarkable.
