Olivier and Didier Gimonnet's Cuvée Fleuron 2017 showcases the estate's best from one vintage. By selecting the best of the year's production, the Gimonnet brothers obtain a cuvée that offers unique harmony and balance.
Thus, for this 2017 vintage, the blend is based on 74% Chardonnays from classified Grand Cru and 26% Premier Cru from the Côte des Blancs. Grapes from Chouilly (43.6%) bring fruit and elegance, those from Cramant (23.8%) a touch of roundness, those from Oger (4.8%) a touch of spice, and Chardonnays from the Cuis (26%) and Vertus (6.2%) terroirs freshness and vivacity.
This cuvée is vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the terroir, and malolactic fermentation is carried out to give the wine roundness and suppleness. The bottles are aged for 4 years in the house cellars, and the wine is dosed at 5 g/L to preserve a wine characteristic of the Gimonnet style and emphasize its beautiful freshness.
Cuvée Fleuron 2017 has a brilliant gold color and fine, lively bubbles.
The first nose reveals notes of green apple, pear, yellow fruit, citrus, grapefruit and yellow lemon. Tertiary notes of brioche, toast, cookie, almond and hazelnut round out the bouquet.
On the palate, Maison Pierre Gimonnet's Fleuron 2017 offers a lovely, lively and straightforward attack. The palate is full, with fruity aromas. The finish is taut, fresh and persistent.
Our Champagnes have a style "recognizable among a thousand": great Blanc de Blancs de Champagnes, complex and balanced, with chiselled elegance and incomparable mineral freshness.
The Cuvée Fleuron, a true showcase for our vintages, is a work of blending that combines the qualities of multiple terroirs and "lieux-dits" on our estate. These qualities obviously stem from our terroirs (the Côte des Blancs), but also from our conception of Champagne: preferring harmony to intensity, balance to ultra-concentration. And to achieve this, blending prevails...
