The L'Egoïste 2014 cuvée from Pertois-Lebrun is a generous, expressive and gourmet Blanc de Blancs champagne.
L'Egoïste marries two highly complementary Grand Cru terroirs, with the richness and generosity of Chouilly on one side, and the tension and energy of Mesnil-sur-Oger on the other.
2014 was a year of contrasts, with a magnificent, very dry spring, followed by a very hot start to summer, before a reversal of the trend with almost autumnal July and August. Fortunately, September saw the return of sunshine and warmth.
The wines were aged for 10 months on fine lees in vats (87%) and in wood (13%). After disgorging, the dosage was made Extra Brut (2.5g/L).
Egoïste 2014 signed Pertois-Lebrun has a very pleasant nose, blending pastry notes with a touch of citrus (orange) and ripe fruit.
On the palate, the attack is clean and crisp, with a creamy effervescence. On the mid-palate, the fruity notes discovered on the nose are repeated, along with a fine chalky minerality. The finish is taut and long.
L'Egoïste 2014 goes well with seafood and shellfish, as well as well-matured cheeses such as Comté, Beaufort and Fourme d'Ambert.
