2007 is an atypical and bewildering vintage. A vintage with a unique freshness that the Perrier-Jouët house and its cellar master Hervé Deschamps wanted to launch at its peak, without waiting for the end of the 2006 vintage.
To create this champagne, Hervé Deschamps wanted to highlight the qualities of this vintage, particularly its great freshness. The early summer of 2007 favored advanced flowering, enabling the harvest to begin 3 to 4 weeks earlier than usual. The result is a cuvée evocative of spring and light floral notes, giving it the name Edition Première.
This limited-edition, ephemeral wine is unique in its slightly pinkish color, achieved through the delicate maceration of Pinot Noir grapes. However, the blend gives pride of place to the Chardonnays (90%), a higher proportion than usual for Belle Epoque, which bring all their freshness and elegance.
The Pinot Noir (10%) comes from Vertus, the only village to produce black grapes on the Côte des Blancs.
Cuvée Belle Epoque 2007 Edition Première by Perrier-Jouët is a pale pink color with peach highlights.
The nose reveals notes of white flowers, peach, marshmallow and citrus fruit.
On the palate, the attack is frank, followed by rounder notes supported by balanced acidity. A fresh, sophisticated cuvée, perfect with spring cuisine.
