This 1998 vintage magnum from the Légende collection is a true collector's item. It's a vibrant, complex champagne that's also powerful and generous.
Every year, Louise Brison sets aside a few bottles in its oenotheque. These bottles are stored in ideal conditions and offered for sale again after aging for at least 10 years. The bottles have been recently disgorged to preserve their freshness.
Cuvée Légende 1998 is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The grapes come from the company's own parcels, mainly located on the Noé-Les-Mallets terroir in the Aube region. It's a very different terroir from that of the Marne. Here, we're closer to the terroirs of Chablis, with clay-limestone soils providing a generous, racy aromatic signature.
Vinified and aged in wood for around 9 months on lees, the cuvée takes its time to develop its complexity. With no dosage whatsoever, this is a champagne that offers power, beautiful aromas of patina and gourmandise, notes of spices and undergrowth, but also a tension that is still very much present.
This Cuvée Légende Millésime 1998 from Maison Louise Brison is full of expression, character and gourmandise. This vintage is vinous yet elegant.
