The 169th edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, presented here in magnum, once again highlights the unique expertise of the House of Krug. Since 1843, Krug Grande Cuvée has embodied the champagne that the house's founder, Joseph Krug, wanted to offer his customers, so that they could enjoy the very best that Champagne has to offer every year, regardless of the vagaries of the weather.

This 169th Edition Grande Cuvée is a blend of 146 wines from eleven different years, the youngest dating from 2013 and the oldest from 2000.

The Chardonnays from this 2013 vintage were exceptionally fresh and pure, with intensity and length. The Pinots Noirs, powerful and long on the palate, developed their delicate fruity aromas, while the Meuniers allowed the wine to acquire structure, tension and vigor.

This 169th edition Grande Cuvée is composed of 43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier. Maison Krug reserve wines make up 40% of the final blend, giving the wine its roundness and fullness.

In keeping with Maison Krug tradition, all the wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels, and the bottles spend 7 years in the company's cellars before being released on the market.

This champagne has a pale gold color and fine, lively bubbles.

The nose reveals aromas of flowers, ripe, candied and dried citrus fruits, almond paste and gingerbread.

The palate explodes with notes of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, fruit and citrus jelly, almonds, brioche and honey.

Krug Grande Cuvée lends itself to a multitude of culinary pairings, from the simplest to the most refined, such as aged parmesan, turbot with truffles, oysters, grilled shrimp, Indian or Moroccan dishes, or as a dessert with carrot cake, tarte Tatin or cheesecake.

Each bottle of Krug tells its own story. Thanks to the Krug ID, the 6-digit number on the back label of each bottle, Eric Lebel, our Cellar Master, tells what makes each cuvée special, from the challenges of the season to the details of its creation. The Krug ID also serves as a reference for storing bottles of Krug Champagne to be enjoyed at a later date, especially Krug Grande Cuvée which, like all Krug champagnes, ages beautifully.
