The Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 from Krug Champagne is an exceptional cuvée, the ultimate expression of Champagne's Pinot Noir. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this champagne is crafted from a single 0.68-hectare enclosed plot located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, renowned for the exceptional quality of its terroir and grapes.
The Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 cuvée is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, harvested from a tiny enclosed plot located in the heart of Ambonnay. This Grand Cru village is known for its chalky and clay-limestone soils, providing ideal conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes.
The harvest, carried out on September 21, 2006, yielded grapes of exceptional concentration. The wines then aged for more than 15 years in Krug's cellars, developing extraordinary aromatic complexity and finesse. Like all Krug champagnes, this cuvée underwent no fining or filtration, preserving its authenticity and unique character.
The Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 is presented in a numbered bottle, a guarantee of exclusivity. Only 4514 bottles were produced for this exceptional vintage.
The year 2006 was marked by contrasting weather, alternating between heatwaves and significant rainfall in August. These climatic conditions gave rise to rich and balanced grapes, reminiscent of the generosity of the 2002 and 1989 vintages. Thanks to the return of sunshine in September, the harvest yielded grapes of exceptional quality, with optimal ripeness and beautiful freshness.
The color of the Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 is a luminous golden yellow, bright and deep, reflecting its concentration and richness.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals a complex aromatic palette, blending notes of love apple and hazelnut powder, evolving towards aromas of bitter orange, dates, and a subtle hint of praline.
On the palate, the cuvée reveals a seductive and airy texture, with flavors of toasted bread, lemon zest, and a finish with notes of redcurrant, both elegant and persistent.
The price of the Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 cuvée bottle from Krug Champagne is 3 249,95 €. This rarity, produced in limited edition, reflects the excellence and know-how of the brand. It is a must-have for collectors and lovers of great champagnes.
Champagne enthusiasts praise the Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 for its aromatic richness and exceptional balance. Read full customer reviews on Reviews of the Clos d’Ambonnay 2006 Krug cuvée.
