Cuvée Joséphine 2014 from Maison Joseph Perrier is a remarkable champagne. It combines the House's finest terroirs with unique expertise. It's a cuvée acclaimed by guidebooks and top sommeliers alike.
This champagne is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, made exclusively from terroirs classified as Premiers and Grands Crus, including Ambonnay, Cumières, Sacy, Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger and Bergères-lès-Vertus.
The grapes are pressed and vinified separately, before aging for a minimum of 6 years in the Maison's cellars in Châlons-en-Champagne.
Each bottle passes through the hands of a dozen men passionate about exceptional champagne.
The 2014 vintage was characterized by a puzzling weather pattern: after a rainy autumn and mild winter, the vines budded early. Spring proved very dry for the Champagne region, despite a short break in humidity in May. July and August brought heavy rainfall. At the end of the summer, warm, sunny and very dry weather set in unexpectedly, helping to ripen the grapes.
To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Josephine Perrier's marriage, the genesis of the cuvée, Joseph Perrier teamed up with talented contemporary artist Jordane Saget to create a resolutely modern packaging.
Cuvée Josephine 2014 has a fine mousse that reflects a brilliant gold.
The nose is extremely delicate, revealing pretty notes of dried fruit and a floral touch.
The palate opens with notes reminiscent of white fruits, then finishes with aromas of white flowers and spices. A sublime, bewitching palate.
This Cuvée Joséphine 2014 is a perfect match for fresh dishes such as scallop carpaccio, and will sublimate the tender flesh of sea bass.
