Cuvée Robert Fleury 2005 by Fleury is a tribute to the founder of the house. It's a champagne of astonishing finesse, offering an immense palette of aromas, thanks in particular to the rare presence of Pinot Blanc.
The house of Fleury is the forerunner of biodynamic viticulture in Champagne, having begun its conversion to organic viticulture as early as 1970, long before it became fashionable. Today, Fleury is certified Agriculture Biologique (AB) and Demeter for its entire 15-hectare estate.
Cuvée Robert Fleury 2005 is the fruit of a blend absolutely unique in Champagne, with 28% Pinot Blanc, a grape variety very rare in the region. Pinot Blanc brings both vivacity and exuberant aromas of exotic fruit. The blend also includes 35% Pinot Noir for structure, 25% Chardonnay for finesse, and 12% Pinot Meunier for fruit.
This cuvée is vinified in 228l oak barrels, then aged under cork. Malolactic fermentation is carried out, and the dosage is Extra Brut (2.9g/l).
Cuvée Robert Fleury 2005 offers delicate notes that go perfectly with haute gastronomie dishes.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasCuvée Robert Fleury 2005 is a brilliant lemon-yellow color with golden highlights. Its bubbles are fine and regular, with a light sprinkling.
The nose is very fresh, with a beautiful minerality. Very fresh aromas of chalk and citrus are underlined by a beautiful aromatic complexity. The second nose reveals floral notes (lime blossom) and a touch of honey.
On the palate, the attack is rich and delicate, underpinned by a lovely freshness that gives it superb balance. This is a champagne of character, with a fine vinosity and a pleasant, slightly bitter finish.
I recommend serving Robert Fleury 2005 as an aperitif, at a temperature of 9°C.
